PORTSMOUTH, NH — City officials are requesting residents and others to be a bit more careful when driving on Tuesday as students head back to school.

Crossing guards will be at key locations around the city between 7:29 and 8:35 a.m. and 2:25 and 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. The department of public works parking enforcement manager, who handles the crossing guard schedule, is asking motorists to “be alert to increased pedestrian activity” and “to follow directions from crossing guards with vests and signs as they assist students and their guardians who are walking and biking to school,” Stefanie Seacord, a public information officer for the city, said.
