Sea-3 Project Vote Looms in Newington
Newington meets on Sea-3 project, while Portsmouth eyes legal action over safety concerns of LPG shipments.
The controversial proposal to reconfigure the Sea-3 terminal to accommodate Liquefied Petroleum Gas shipments via rail is up for a vote tonight in Newington.
The Newington Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. May 19.
The Newington board deliberations continue as the Portsmouth City Council watches closely.
The Portsmouth council has previously discussed taking legal action to oppose the project. Councilors held off on taking any such action, seeing it as premature until Newington actually takes an official vote on it.
Sea-3 seeks to reconfigure its terminal at 190 Shattuck Way to allow LPG shipments by rail, as well as the export of the gas shipments via ocean-going ships, and by truck to customers in New England.
