SERT Team Was Close to Area of Terror Suspect's Capture

Union Leader reports that members of Seacoast Emergency Response Team were in Watertown, Mass., assisting other law enforcement agencies.

Members of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team were very close to the area where terror suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev was captured Friday night in Watertown, Mass., according to the Union Leader.

Hampton Police Chief Jamie Sullivan, president of SERT's board of directors, told the Union Leader that 19 tactical operators and four command staff from SERT arrived in Watertown just before 4:30 p.m. when Tsarnaev was located hiding inside a boat.

The SERT team consists of police officers from 11 Seacoast area communities, including the Portsmouth Police Department. Sullivan told the Union Leader the SERT team was there to relieve other law enforcement agencies on Friday at the time Tsarnaev was located. Tsarnaev is current hospitalized in serious condition and cannot speak yet with investigators.
