Services Planned For Newington's Late Fire Chief
Services are planned for late Newington Fire Chief Darin Sabine, who died Saturday after a two-year battle with colon cancer.
NEWINGTON, NH — Services are planned for late Newington Fire Chief Darin Sabine, who died on Saturday after a two-year battle with colon cancer. The wake will be held at the Community Connect Church with the first responder "Sea of Blue" lineup starting at 6 p.m. The funeral will be held Friday. Both events are open to the public.
"Chief Sabine was an incredible leader, and an exceptionally kind individual," said Acting Fire Chief E.J. Hoyt. "All of our thoughts and prayers are with his family and this very difficult time. We were fortunate to have him as a member of our department for many years, and he will be missed dearly."
Sabine, 35, was the husband of Jennifer Sabine and father of two children, Sophia, 5, and Mya, 3. He joined the Newington Fire Department in 2002, serving various roles and becoming fire chief in 2018.

According to the Newington Fire Department, Sabine was born and raised in Newington and was known for his love of firefighting and serving the community. He was a boisterous, caring and compassionate person, the Fire Department stated. In recent years, he delivered donated toys to families in need in the Colebrook area, where his family is from, during the holidays.
Thursday's wake will be held at Community Connect Church, at 200 Chase Dr. in Portsmouth, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the "Sea of Blue" lineup starting at 6 p.m.

The funeral will be held at Community Connect Church on Friday at 11 a.m. After the formal church service, only Sabine's family and friends and Newtington fire officials will be permitted to proceed to the cemetery, per request of Sabine's family.
