Sustainable Art Show Begins at Library

Historic District Commission meeting tonight; Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day this Saturday; another sunny, pleasant day in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: Today will be sunny with a high temperature near 64 degrees. On Wednesday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low temperature around 42 degrees.

2. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day: The city will hold its bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, May 4 for the residents of Portsmouth, Greenland and Newington. People can bring their household chemicals to the Public Works Department facility on Peverly Hill Road between 8 a.m. and noon and proof of residency is required.

3. HDC meeting: The city's Historic District Commission is meeting on Wednesday at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.

4. Sustainable art on display: The Portsmouth Public Library will display artwork by Portsmouth area artists that uses recycled and natural materials for the entire month of May.

5. Sarah Long Bridge closed: According to New Hampshire Department of Transportation officials, the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge will be closed to motor vehicle traffic until May 25 because of the extensive repairs that need to be done.
