Red Sox Coming to Music Hall Loft?

Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy will discuss his new book about former Red Sox manager Terry Francona, "Francona The Red Sox Years," at Music Hall Loft on April 10.

The Music Hall's Writers on a New England Stage will inject some baseball and Red Sox lore next month when Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy discusses his new book, "Francona The Red Sox Years," next month.

According to the Music Hall's website, there will be two events on April 10, one at 5 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m., where Shaughnessy will discuss his latest book about former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona. The book explores the Red Sox rise to two World Series titles in 2004 and 2007 and the team's collapse at the end of the 2011 season from Francona's point of view during his eight-year span as the team's skipper.

Francona resigned as Red Sox manager at the end of the 2011 season and is now the manager of the Cleveland Indians. Some of Francona's revelations about some of the factors that contributed to the team's collapse in 2011 drew some controversy among current Red Sox players.

During the Seacoast Mavericks Hot Stove Baseball Dinner in January in Portsmouth, Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia told Portsmouth Patch he was not pleased with Francona's book because it cast the 2011 team in a negative light even though they were one of the best teams in baseball for much of that season.
