Former AG to Investigate Response to UNH Athletics Scandal

The school's former director of men's basketball operations was fired after he allegedly took photos and video of members of the men's basketball team in the locker room.

The University of New Hampshire has retained McLane Law Firm to conduct an independent investigation into the school’s response to alleged incidents of misconduct by its former director of men's basketball operations.

Michael Delaney, former New Hampshire Attorney General, will lead the investigation.

At a press conference last week, UNH revealed that Scott Weitzell was fired after he allegedly took photos and video of members of the team in the locker room. The incident occurred on Jan. 20 but wasn't reported to university officials for another month.

"Mr. Delaney and his colleagues will have full access to necessary resources and personnel to ensure a thorough and timely investigation into the reporting delays," UNH President Mark Huddleston said. "Our students and their parents count on us to act swiftly and decisively when we learn of misconduct. We, in turn, count on every member of our campus community to report any and all forms of misconduct without delay."

The University System of New Hampshire said it is also exploring options to expand the McLane Law Firm’s investigation to include all USNH institutions.
