Portsmouth residents who need to conduct business at City Hall will have to wait until Wednesday because City Hall will be closed on Tuesday, New Year's Day. According to city officials, the Portsmouth Public Library, Public Works department and most of the city's recreational facilities will be closed on New Year's Day. The Portsmouth Indoor Pool will be closed on Tuesday, but the Spinnaker Point Adult Recreation Center will reopen on New Year's Day. The Portsmouth Schools will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The U.S. Post Office and federal offices will also be closed for the holiday, but several downtown restaurants and retailers will be open. The Fox Run Mall in Newington is also open on New Year's Day.
