What's This Helicopter Egg Drop About?
2013 Helicopter Egg Drop signs all over the city have one city resident wondering about this event.

By now you have probably seen the small 2013 Helicopter Egg Drop signs around the city and elsewhere in the Portsmouth area and some of you may be wondering what is this event all about.
Daryl, a Portsmouth resident, asked this very question after he spotted several of the signs on Lafayette Road earlier this week. Here is Daryl's question:
"I couldn't help but notice all of these signs on Route 1 when I was heading to Wal-Mart the other day that were advertising this helicopter egg drop. Is this for real and if so, where is it happening?"

Great question, Daryl. You are not alone. After some careful investigation into the matter, here is what Portsmouth Patch has learned.
The 2013 Helicopter Egg Drop is being sponsored by the Next Level Church in Newington, Epping and Portland, Maine, on Sunday, March 31, on Easter Sunday. According to the church's website for this event, if Portsmouth area residents want to participate in the Newington event, they have to attend the church's Easter Sunday services at the Regal Cinemas first.

Once there, they will be told by church officials where in Newington a helicopter will drop dozens of plastic eggs filled with candy and prizes.
Some of you are probably thinking that you don't want to sit through church just for your kids to grab some eggs. We want you to know that this is no ordinary egg hunt, but more importantly, that Next Level Church exists to love people far from God and move them to life in Jesus Christ. Next Level Church is real, relevant, and life-changing. It features music you actually like, teaching about subjects that matter to your everyday life, and a nlcKids environment your children will beg you to come back to (hundreds of kids attend our nlcKids areas each week and it is so awesome that your kids will probably be more excited about coming back to church than the Egg Drop!), is what the church's website reads.
