Now that the Portsmouth Little League is officially underway and the Red Sox have played nearly a full month at Fenway, some city residents are wondering when Portsmouth's team, the Seacoast Mavericks, will begin playing at Leary Field.

The Futures Collegiate Baseball League team recently announced they would play all of their home games in Portsmouth and are in the process of making several improvements to Leary Field for the 2013 season. It is understandable why the excitement continues to build for city residents like Nate.

I was driving by Leary Field the other day and I couldn't help but wonder when the Mavericks are going to start playing their games. I know the team said a few months ago they were going to play all of their games in the city starting this year, but when it Opening Day?

Well Nate, Portsmouth Patch has the answer because we have been following all of the news surrounding the Seacoast Mavericks very closely since last fall. Here is what we can tell you. According to the Seacoast Mavericks' website, Opening Day at Leary Field is Saturday, June 8 against the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
