Bacteria Advisory Removed for Second Street Beach

The advisory was issued on June 6.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has removed a fecal bacteria advisory for Second Street Beach in Salem, according to a release.

The advisory was removed on Tuesday after additional tests took place on Monday.

The initial advisory was issued on June 6 after a sample was taken.

Similar advisories went out last summer for both Arlington Pond and Hedgehog Pond.

The advisory typical remains until bacteria counts are below the state standard. A yellow NHDES sign is placed at the beach to indicate that the advisory has been issued and that the water is not suitable for wading or swimming.

The sign does not indicate that the beach is closed to the public, but those in the area are advised to enter the water at their own risk.

Sampling take place throughout the state at both coastal and freshwater beaches.
