Chamber Starts 'Coffee, Commerce and Community' Program

Business members and residents will get to interact with community leaders and ask pertinent questions during the special series.

The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce and its Government Affairs Committee have announced that they will be kicking off the first in a series of “Coffee, Commerce & Community” events at the Salem Town Offices on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 7:30 AM.  The purpose of the series is to schedule meetings at which member businesses and the general public will have a chance to meet, hear from and interact with community leaders. Future events will be scheduled in other communities served by the Chamber.

This initial event in Salem is a special opportunity, as the business community will have an opportunity to meet Leon Goodwin, the Town’s new Assistant Town Manager. In addition, Town Manager Keith Hickey and Planning Director Ross Moldoff will be in attendance. Salem School District Superintendent Dr. Michael Delahunty and Salem High School Principal Tracy Collier will be attending, and will be speaking on District plans for the possible renovation of Salem High School. The format will be informal, with comments by guests on pending initiatives that affect the community and opportunities for discussion of issues of concern to attendees.

The Government Affairs Committee of the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce is committed to educating its membership and the general public of governmental affairs that affect their lives. This series is the latest opportunity sponsored by the Committee to open dialogue with local leaders. The Committee conducts programming year round, including its Concord Connection program early each year, local candidate debates, and informational programs on issues of local interest. It is also beginning a new monthly “Three Questions in Three Minutes” video series with local leaders, where the videos will be available through the Chamber website.
