Derry Fire Swears In 10 New Firefighters, Promotes Several Others

At the annual recognition ceremony, 10 retirees were acknowledged for serving the town of Derry. Six newly promoted officers were sworn in.

DERRY, NH — The Derry Fire Department annual recognition ceremony was held on Friday to recognize the accomplishments of 28 members of the department during the last year.

Ten people from the department were honored for their service and dedication to the town of Derry. Presentations were made to recognize several of the members' accomplishments and to thank them for their service.

Retirements:

Captain Bruno Soucy
Lieutenant Richard Fisher
Lieutenant Michael Stanhope
Lieutenant Matthew Evans
FF John McCaugherty
FF James Moran
FF Keith Munroe

Several members of the department were promoted to positions including Battalion Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant.

Two members were recognized new assignments which opened due to the retirements and promotions.

New Assignments:
David Eastman – Director of Fire Prevention
Michael Garone – Fire Inspector

Ten were sworn in as new Derry firefighters, several coming with experience from other departments. Family and friends pinned their new badges on them acknowledging their new jobs with Derry Fire.
