Derry Police, NH Attorney General Investigating Untimely Death

An apartment building on Linlew Drive in Derry was secured by police Tuesday due to a shooting; one man was taken to the hospital.

DERRY, NH — Derry fire, police, and EMS were called to a Linlew Drive apartment building for an unknown medical problem on Monday.

An officer who arrived at the scene at about 8:30 p.m. reported there was a man in the hallway suffering from “what appears to be a gunshot wound to the stomach” and asked for additional units to respond. Derry firefighters and EMS took the man to the Elliot Hospital with unspecified injuries. A Derry police supervisor advised units to secure the scene and to speak to the residents in the nearby apartments.

Londonderry police and fire were dispatched to Atlas Place shortly after the Derry incident.

Fire and EMS were told to stage away from the address until police arrived. Responding units were advised that a man had "superficial stab wounds to the hand and abdomen after being involved in a fight in Derry."

It is unknown, at post time, if this response was related to the incident on Linlew Drive.

NH Attorney General John Formella and Derry Police Chief Edward Garrone announced that authorities were investigating an untimely death in Derry on Tuesday morning. The news release did not specify an address or any details about the deceased.

Authorities said, based on information currently known to investigators at this time, there was no known danger to the public. Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation.

Tuesday morning crime scene tape secures a large area on the right side of 27 Linlew Drive and two Derry officers are at the scene securing the area. A Derry officer was also in a cruiser outside of the Atlas Way address that police and fire responded to Monday night.
