Driver Killed in I-93 Crash was Speeding, Lost Control of Vehicle

Police are still not releasing the name of the man who was killed last night.

UPDATE (JUNE 11, 8:00 p.m.): New Hampshire State Police have identified the driver who was killed in Monday's accident on Interstate 93 southbound.

According to the state's Medical Examiners Office, the driver was Cornelius V. Stanley, 34, of Lawrence, Mass.

Police also identified the driver of the second vehicle, a 2009 Infinity, that Stanely struck before he was killed. The driver was identified as Bryan Schnepf of Oxford, CT. He was uninjured in the incident and his vehicle suffered only minor damage.

The initial investigation has determined that speed and lane control are contributing factors to the cause of the collision.

A motor vehicle accident that killed a man on Interstate 93 last night took place after he struck the side of another vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed, according to state police.

New Hampshire State Police are still not releasing the name of the man who was ejected from his 2002 Ford F-150 truck just before 7:20 p.m. Proper identification needs to take place and next of kin need to be notified.

According to the report, the incident took place on the southbound side of I-93 near the Massachusetts state line.

Witnesses and roadway evidence indicated that the man's white truck was traveling at a very high rate of speed, changing lanes while traveling southbound.

The truck struck the side of a 2009 Infinity at mile marker 0.4, causing the man to lose control.

His truck hit the guardrail in the high speed median and subsequently rolled over several times. The man was ejected and suffered fatal injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver and passenger of the Infinity were both uninjured and their vehicle suffered only minor damage.

Assisting state police on the scene were the Salem Police and Fire Departments, Massachusetts State Police, the Department of Transportation and the New Hampshire State Police Technical Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Traffic was reduced to the far right travel lane and the breakdown lane for several hours.
