Five Things: Salem Election Day Edition
Everything you need to know for town meeting.

1. ELECTION DAY FORECAST: Those picketing outside of the polling center today should bring an umbrella, as heavy rain is in the forecast with a high of 54. Winds will be swirling at 15 to 25 mph. Rainfall is expected near a half an inch.
Rain is expected to diminish to a few showers late with a low of 41 tonight. Winds will remain around 10 to 20 miles per hour.
2. WHERE AND WHEN CAN I VOTE?: The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in town. See below to learn your location.

- Ward 3: Salem Senior Center, 1 Sally Sweets Way.

4. LAST YEAR IN SALEM ELECTIONS: In Salem's 2012 Town Meeting, voters came out in record droves to send a strong message against curbside pickup.

The final tally was a resounding defeat of the plan Selectman Pat Hargreaves and other members of the Municipal Solid Waste Committee had worked to create. The referendum received 5,353 votes against and 1,466 in favor.
