Funeral Tuesday for Salem Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

John Shivelhood, 51, of Salem, was killed last week when his motorcycle left the roadway and crashed.

John Shivelhood, 51, formerly of Mount Carmel, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, in Salem, N.H.

Born in Shamokin, June 22, 1962, he was a son of Dorothy (Dolly) Baker Saunders and the late James Shivelhood. He graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School, class of 1980, and worked as a truck driver.

Surviving are his wife Jenny, of Mount Carmel; a daughter and two sons, Candice Bennett and her husband, William, of Mount Carmel, Joseph and his wife, Nicole Rowe, of Lakehurst, N.J., and Robert Shivelhood, of Grand Forks, N.D.; brothers and sisters, Russell Snyder, Mick Shivelhood, Rodney Shivelhood, Tammy McAndrew, Jerry Shivelhood and Caroline Yucha; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 15 in Grace United Church of Christ, Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Joan Brown officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the family in memory of John. Willard Rothermel Funeral Home, Mount Carmel, has charge of arrangements. -
