Hassan Appears at Annual St. Patrick's Day Memorial Luncheon [VIDEO]

The governor honored the memory of John P. Ganley and said a few remarks about this year's award recipient.

New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan called former Salem Police Chief and Town Manager John Ganley a hard-working, devoted family man during an appearance at the Salem Boys and Girls Club on Friday.

The governor spoke to a crowd of 350 politicans, community activists, emergency management personnel and other locals at the 24th annual John P. Ganley St. Patrick's Day Memorial Award Luncheon.

Ganley served as a police chief in Salem for 17 years before transitioning to a role as the Town Manager.

This year's recipient of the annual "Community Service" award at the luncheon was the Rev. David Yasenko, pastor of Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church in Salem.

"Ever since he started his ministry at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church, David has worked for both charity and justice," said Hassan. "In David's church, strangers are welcomed. The homeless find shelter. The hungry find food. Those who mourn find comfort. The lonely find friendship."
