I-93 Dropping to One Lane During Roadwork

State officials are urging motorists on Interstate 93 in Salem to use caution.

The southbound side of Interstate 93 will be reduced to one lane of traffic around Exit 2 between 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, and 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

The partial highway closure is needed as crews work to pave an area around the new Exit 2 interchange in Salem, according to NHDOT. The department said motorists should "remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs."

This work is part of the $41 million I-93 widening and reconstruction project in the vicinity of Exit 2. The general contractor is George R. Cairns & Sons, Inc., of Windham.
