Law Enforcement Associations Coming Out in Support of Casino Bill

A press conference will take place today.

The New Hampshire Troopers Association and New Hampshire Police Association will discuss their support of expanded gambling legislation during a press conference this morning at the Legislative Office Building in Concord.

The conference comes just four days after the state Senate passed Senate Bill 152 by a 16-8 vote. The bill will now go to the House of Representatives.

Senate Bill 152 calls for up to 150 table games and no more than 5,000 video lottery/slot machines at one casino location in the state.

On the other side of the debate, the New Hampshire Association of Chiefs of Police have come out against expanded gambling. Despite the organization's stance, Salem Police Chief Paul Donovan individually supports a casino in the state, according to comments from Salem Town Manager Keith Hickey made last month in Concord.

The press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m.
