Man Arrested for Punching 2 Mall Security Officers

A man was arrested after he allegedly punched two security guards at the Mall at Rockingham Park on Friday.

Around 5:10 p.m., the Salem Police Department responded to the Mall at Rockingham Park for a reported fight in progress on the upper level of the mall involving mall security personnel. Investigation revealed that mall security had received numerous complaints of a male subject swearing and attempted to remove Nicholas G. Mello, 20, of no known address. He threatened a mall security officer and then punched two mall security officers in the face, injuring both. 

Mello was taken into custody, processed, and subsequently transported to the Rockingham County Jail after refusing bail. He will be arraigned before the Salem District Court on Tuesday, Feb. 18 on one count of second degree assault, one count of simple assault, two counts of criminal mischief, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespass.
