Mass. Man Dies from Heroin Overdose in Salem

The Salem Police Department said a Massachusetts man died of an apparent heroin overdose April 27, after being found unconscious at the Red Roof Inn in Salem.

The man was identified as David Sullivan, 50, of Winthrop, Mass.

Salem Police and Fire responded to the Red Roof Inn for a report of a man unconscious and not breathing shortly before midnight Sunday.

He was taken to Holy Family Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Salem detectives, who investigated and collected evidence in the room, described the case as an heroin overdose.

The case remains under investigation.
