Massachusetts Driver Accused Of Crashing Car Into Pelham House

Erick Alfonso of Lawrence, MA, was arrested on reckless operation and criminal mischief charges on Wednesday.

PELHAM, NH — A man from Massachusetts was arrested on Wednesday accused of reckless driving after a crash in Pelham.

Around 8:30 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Old Gage Hill Road for a report of a car crashing into a house. When they arrived, they found a blue 2009 Infiniti G37 in the backyard of the home, with substantial damage.

“The initial investigation indicated that the vehicle was traveling east on Ledge Road at a very high rate of speed,” a report on Facebook stated. “The operator lost control of the vehicle as it entered the intersection of Ledge Road and Old Gage Hill Road.”

The car continued more than 100 feet driving off the road until it struck a propane tank, air conditioning unit, and eventually, the house, the report said. The car stopped in the backyard.

Erick Alfonso, 20, of Lawrence, MA, sustained minor injuries during the crash. He was arrested and charged with reckless operation and six criminal mischief charges. Alfonso is due back in Salem District Court on Feb. 14.

According to police, the home was structurally damaged but was safe. The homeowners, however, have no heat or hot water due to the crash.
