Motorcycle Accident In Remote Area Injures Hampstead Man
A combination of a 911 call and GPS location enabled a quick response to locate the man on an unmaintained road in Brookfield.

BROOKFIELD, NH — A 56-year-old East Hampstead man sustained a lower leg injury Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on an unmaintained Class VI road in Brookfield.
The swift response and successful rescue were largely thanks to the injured rider's ability to provide his exact GPS coordinates to emergency services. At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, Mark Harper was riding his motorcycle when he attempted to navigate a log obstacle on a town-owned road. His motorcycle went down at a slow speed, resulting in a lower leg injury.
Shortly after the accident, a passerby discovered Harper and went to a nearby golf course for help. However, due to the unlabeled nature of the Class VI road system, they were unable to provide precise directions to Harper's location, making it difficult for rescuers to pinpoint him.

Fortunately, Harper was able to contact 911 and relay his exact GPS coordinates to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office. This crucial information mobilized a multi-agency response, including Wolfeboro, Wakefield, and New Durham Fire and EMS, as well as NH Fish and Game Officers, who staged to investigate the scene.
Once it was confirmed that Harper was on Woodman Hill Road in Brookfield, Wakefield EMS was able to locate and evacuate him. Harper was then transported by ambulance to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro for treatment.
