Police Recover Heroin, Needles Hidden in Woman's Groin Area

Salem Police found a vehicle with cardboard and sheets covering the windows.

Salem Police arrested two Dover residents on various charges Wednesday after an officer found them in the back of a vehicle with sheets and cardboard blocking its windows.

James Vigeant, 25, was charged with false reports to law enforcement and an electronic bench warrant.

Katie O'Leary–Valdez, 25, was charged with hindering apprehension, poessession of controlled drugs (heroin) and falsifying physical evidence.

Salem Officer Nick Turner was patrolling through the rest area at 9:30 a.m. when he found the suspicious vehicle. Turner also observed that the sheets blocking the windows were moving.

Turner made contact with both Vigeant and O'Leary–Valdez, who were in the back of the vehicle.

When Turner attempted to identify Vigeant, he claimed that he had no identification. Inquiry with other departments determined that he was providing a false name and had an active bench warrant out of Hampton District Court.

Vigeant was taken into custody without incident. The

O'Leary-Valdez was also questioned and confirmed Vigeant's false identity. A small quantity of heroin and hypodermic needles were found hidden in her groin area during the booking process.

Both refused the services of a bail commissioner and were transported to Rockingham County Jail pending arraignment.
