Police Take 3 Men At Gunpoint After Fleeing Vehicle On I-93 In Derry

The men allegedly stole several items from Home Depot in Londonderry, struck a median while fleeing, punctured a tire, and fled on foot.

LONDONDERRY, NH — Londonderry police received a call Wednesday from a person reporting a vehicle with three men leaving Home Depot without paying for several items.

The caller reported the men left in a white SUV and the vehicle struck the median damaging the tires. The caller said the driver was driving with a front flat tire and getting onto Interstate 93 south and traveling in the breakdown lane until it became disabled.

A Londonderry police officer arrived at the vehicle, which had a New York registration, and reported that it was occupied by three men inside. As the officer approached the vehicle, the men exited it and fled. The officer reported that he had one held at gunpoint while two others fled into a Derry neighborhood.

The officer described the suspects as Black men wearing hoodies and masks. They reportedly jumped a fence into a residential area. Londonderry police requested the assistance of Derry police and New Hampshire State Police. After a short search, a Londonderry officer took a second suspect into custody at gunpoint.

A person in the Spinnaker Drive area pointed out where the third man was headed and state police located him and took him into custody at gunpoint.

Derry police searched the area for an article thrown and recovered an item, which sources indicate was a knife.

The Volkswagen vehicle the suspects were driving had several items described by police as electronics, lighting items, and surge protectors. The vehicle was listed by a rental company in New York.

The vehicle was subsequently seized by Londonderry Police pending the application of a search warrant.

The three men face an array of misdemeanor and felony level criminal charges in Derry and Londonderry that include organized retail crime enterprise, theft, and resisting arrest, according to police. The names and booking photos of the suspects were not released by police.

The suspects are being held without bail and are scheduled for arraignments at the 10th Circuit – District Division -Derry on Thursday.
