“Methuen’s work represents the state-of-the-art in construction,” said ABC MA President Greg Beeman.  “They should be justifiably proud of this achievement.  Work of this caliber is helping to raise the standards of excellence throughout the construction industry.”

The contractor achieved substantial completion 160 days ahead of schedule, despite the value of work being increased by more than $1.3 million. Methuen’s passion for safety provided a safe work environment, and the company achieved the unprecedented milestone of 1 million work hours without a “lost-time” injury. A very unique part of the project was the fabrication of the steel piping for both internal and external installations, which was done at Methuen’s Summit Metal Fabrication shop.

The award winners were determined by an independent panel of expert judges based on execution of design, craftsmanship, attention to detail, safety and other considerations. The judges were Mike Davis FAIA of Bergmeyer; Paul Guertin of Coler & Colantonio, Inc; George J. Khouri of George J. Khouri & Associaties; and Laura Wernick AIA of HMFH Architects.

Associated Builders and Contractors’ Massachusetts Chapter is the largest construction trade association in the Commonwealth, representing more than 400 contractors and construction-related firms.  ABC members subscribe to the merit shop philosophy that construction contracts should be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder through open and fair competition.  ABC’s MA Chapter operates the Gould Construction Institute and the Merit Apprenticeship Program (MAP) and is part of 72-chapter national federation representing more than 19,000 firms across the country.  Learn more at www.abcma.org.
