SALEM, NH — If Salem residents are unable to attend Wednesday night's Lions Club Tree Lighting at Veterans Common, they still have multiple chances to watch Christmas trees be illuminated this week.

On Thursday night, the lighting of the tree in front of Salem Town Hall, 33 Geremonty Dr., will be the conclusion of the Night of Lights: Carols & Cocoa event that will begin with an outdoor show at Salem High School.

Beginning at 6 p.m. in front of the main entrance of the high school, several local school choirs will perform holiday favorites.

Scheduled to perform are: the Elementary Chorus, the Woodbury Middle School Holiday Chorus and the Salem High School Chorus. There also will be an audience sing-a-long.

Members of the CHS Performing Arts Music Club will be handing out cocoa and costumed characters will mingle through the crowd.

When the singing is finished, Santa will arrive and, accompanied by the SHS band, he and the crowd will head over to the town Christmas tree. There, Santa will light the tree as the band plays "O Christmas Tree."

Santa also will pose for photos.

"This event is always a fun time and perfect for, as ('The Christmas Song') says, 'Kids from 1 to 92.' We hope the Salem community will enjoy this event," said Lauren Peithmann, the Salem School District's K-12 director of performing arts.

On Saturday, Tuscan Village, located at 9 Via Toscana Dr., will host its second Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event will feature a full day of activities.

Beginning at noon, there will be live music, face-painting and wine sampling. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. guests will be able to visit with Santa.

At 6 p.m. Tuscan Brands Founder Joe Faro will illuminate the Tuscan Village Christmas tree. Guests are encouraged to hang around to enjoy Christmas carolers and dancers.
