Salem High Grad McCloskey Gets Volleyball, Academic Honor At Stonehill
Lauren McCloskey was named to the Academic All-District team. The junior is a business major and was 2nd on the Stonehill team in kills.

EASTON, MA — Salem High grad Lauren McCloskey, a volleyball player at Stonehill College, was named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team on Monday, the school announced.
The Skyhawks (3-27 overall, 1-13 in the Northeastern Conference) may have taken their lumps during their inaugural season in Division I. But McCloskey got the job done on the court and in the classroom.

McCloskey, a junior, ranked second on the team with 189 kills, which was a new career high. The middle blocker also posted career-highs in service aces (14), assists (8), digs (55), block assists (46), solo blocks (22), total blocks (68) and hitting percentage (.280).

On Oct. 21, McCloskey posted a career-best 12 kills in the Skyhawks' first NEC victory, a 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16) win over Merrimack College.
The following day, McCloskey had a career-best seven block assists in a 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-20,25-20) win over the University of Hartford.

Those performances were responsible for McCloskey being named an NEC Prime Performer on Oct. 25.

In her college career, McCloskey has played in 51 matches and has tallied 259 kills, 13 assists, 14 service aces, 66 digs, and 123 total blocks (32 solo blocks and 91 block assists).
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District team, a student must be a key player for their team and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
McCloskey, who is majoring in business, also moves on to a national ballot where she will be eligible for the Academic All-America team.
A 2020 Salem High grad, McCloskey was the Blue Devils' Most Valuable Player for two seasons, and she was named the Outstanding Athlete during her senior campaign.
McCloskey also was a high honor roll student for four years and a three-year member of the National Honor Society in high school.
