Salem To Host Inaugural Oktoberfest 1-Mile Beer Run at Tuscan Village
The Oct. 1 event also will include a quarter-mile Kids Pretzel Run and will raise money for Alex's Team Foundation.
SALEM, NH —Salem's Tuscan Village will be the site of next week's inaugural Oktoberfest 1-Mile Beer Run, a Bavarian-themed race that will raise money to fight childhood cancer.
The race will begin at 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Lake Park in Tuscan Village, located at 9 Via Toscana, and coincide with that weekend's Tuscan Village Oktoberfest celebration. There also will be a quarter-mile Kids Pretzel Run at 1 p.m. that day.
Money donated by participants and raised through sponsorship of participants will go to Alex's Team Foundation, which fights childhood cancer by funding pioneering programs in pediatric oncology, research and care.

Registration for the event remains available online. It costs $20 to participate in the 1-mile run and $5 to take part in the quarter-mile run.
Race participants 21 and over will receive a race bib, event swag, post-race beer and post-race pretzel. Runners who are under 21 will not get the post-race beer. Participants in the youth race will receive a race bib and a pretzel.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers, and there will be awards for the top 3 male and female runners in each age group, according to organizers.
After the race, at approximately 1:30 p.m., there will be beer games at the Tuscan Village Oktoberfest celebration.
Early bib pick-up and registration will be available in person at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30 and again at 11 a.m. on the day of the race.
