Salem Man Charged with Assault with a Pipe

An accident was also reported involving a school bus.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Salem Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Dec. 16

  • 8:37 a.m.: An accident was reported on Shore Drive.
  • 8:51 a.m.: An accident with injuries was reported on Main Street.
  • 9:09 a.m.: William Luther Venable, 53, of 41 School St., Salem was arrested on a bench warrant. The charge wast not specified. Bail was set at $1,000.
  • 11:55 a.m.: An accident was reported on South Broadway.
  • 3:17 p.m.: An accident involving a school bus was reported at North Salem Elementary School on Zion Hill Road. The bus reportedly clipped the side mirror of a parked car, and the fire department was called to the scene to make sure all of the children on the bus were OK.
  • 4:36 p.m.: Robert Kenneth Scott Jr., 52, of 73 Millville St., Apt. B, Salem was charged with four counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal threat against person/deadly weapon, one count of first degree assault with a deadly weapon and one count of criminal mischief. The victim said he was hit in the head with a pipe. Bail was set at $5,000.
  • 4:37 p.m.: An Equestrian Road resident reported that his snowblower was stolen from his garage.
  • 7:25 p.m.: An accident was reported on South Broadway.
  • 8:15 p.m.: An accident was reported on Mall Road.
