Salem PD Officer Hanoi Campusano Honored By Salem School Board

SALEM, NH — Salem Police Department Officer Hanoi Campusano, who is the school resource officer at Woodbury Middle School, was recognized last week for his service to the school and community.

Campusano received a certificate from the Salem School Board for "going above and beyond the call of duty."

It was just the latest award for Campusano.

On Nov. 3, Campusano was named the Officer of the Year by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem.

"I am beyond humbled to receive these awards," Campusano said. "I go to work every day hoping to make a positive impact on my community. While at Woodbury, I relate to the kids by showing kindness and compassion in every situation and just being myself."

Campusano's affiliation with the department actually began during his senior year at Merrimack College, when he served as an intern with the Salem PD.

Salem PD Lt. Bob Genest said Campusano was impressive in that capacity and members of the department encouraged Campusano to apply to become an officer.

Campusano did just that. Then, during his first year on the job, Campusano saw there was an opening at Woodbury Middle School.

"He stepped up and took on the position," Genest said. "Because of his outgoing and approachable personality, he has become a valuable asset to our community's students and families."

In addition to his duties with the Salem PD, including serving a Woodbury Middle School, Campusano also coaches basketball at the Boys & Girls Club during his time off.

"We couldn’t be more proud of the incredible work (Campusano) has been doing with the Salem School District and the Salem community as a whole," the Salem PD said in a statement.
