Salem Police Charge Man with Assault, Threatening
Salem man was charged with second-degree assault, simple assault and criminal threatening in connection with the reported domestic dispute.
Salem Police have arrested a local man on charges of second-degree assault, simple assault and criminal threatening in connection with a reported domestic dispute May 16.
Police said a witness overheard a loud argument between a man and a woman, and the woman screaming, "Stop you're choking me."
Officers arriving at the Lancelot Court residence heard the argument and knocked on the door. After several knocks and a warning they would force their way into the residence, they forced their way into the apartment, according to police.
Edward DuBois, 27, of Salem, was then arrested and charged, police said.
The woman, who refused to give a written statement, had significant red scratches and marks around her throat, according to police. Police said she was also spit upon and threatened.
