Salem Police Investigating Armed Robbery On Route 28

Salem police are asking for the public's help finding a white man with a gun who tied people up during an armed robbery on Wednesday.

SALEM, NH — Salem police are asking for the public's help finding a suspect in an armed robbery on South Broadway on Wednesday.

Police were sent to 522 South Broadway-Route 28 after receiving a 911 call about a robbery at Loanmax with employees who were tied up, according to Capt. Jason Smith of the Salem Police Department.

"The suspect was last seen, with a firearm, walking southbound on Route 28 towards the Methuen line," he said. "Responding patrol units immediately began a search for the suspect and cleared the business, ensuring the employees were unharmed. A K-9 was deployed and tracked towards the rail trail and Methuen."

The suspect was described as a white man, in his 50s or 60s, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He was wearing a coronavirus mask, glasses, a black baseball cap, a blue hoodie, with gray pants, and black shoes. He was also carrying a black backpack.

Salem detectives are currently processing the scene for evidence, Smith said, while Methuen police also assisting with a search for the suspect.
