Salem Water Conservation Efforts Paying Off
A 17-year-old order was lifted by the state Department of Environmental Services.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has lifted an order limiting the town's use of water from Canobie Lake, according to The Eagle-Tribune.
The order was put in place in 1996 an effort to make Salem improve its drinking water system so that it wouldn't rely so heavily on Canobie Lake. The town took several steps to remedy the situation, including fixing old and leaky water pipes and installing new water meters.
