School District to Recieve LGC Refund, Town Gets Nothing
The school district will receive over $750K.

The Salem School district will receive $757,172 from the Local Government Center refund while the town will get nothing, according to the Eagle Tribune.
According to the report, the New Hampshire Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Salem will not be allowed to intervene in a case that prevents Salem from receiving about $100,000 owed by the LGC.
The LGC was ordered to pay back $53.4 million to towns that were overcharged on health and property liability insurance coverage.
Of that $53.4 million, $33.2 million was from HealthTrust, $17.1 million was from the Property-Liability pool siphoned from HealthTrust and $3.1 million was from the Property-Liability for communities that joined the LGC after June 14, 2010.
The report said that Salem will not receive money because it withdrew from the LGC more than a year ago to obtain more cost-effective insurance.
Salem Town Manager Keith Hickey resigned his position as a member of the Board of Directors for the LGC in Dec. 2012, citing too many conflicts between his Salem job and the organization.
