Shark Week: Highlights of 2013
Shark Week on Discovery Channel. Did you watch the episode of the 'Megalodon'?
It's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel and this television-soaked week of shark programming has some of us beating the summer doldrums. Others took to social media to question whether Shark Week had jumped the shark due to a fictionalized documentary (shark-umentary?) about evidence of a 50-ton Megalodon shark that may have existed a million years ago.
Discovery Channel defended its decision to run with the film about a shark "legend," as opposed to a scientifically proven documentary, Fox News reports.
It may not matter so much, because TV is all about ratings, and Discovery had them – record viewership, in fact – for the Megalodon programming, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
