Smoke-Filled Rooms, Stove Fires and Pizza
Those three things will soon come together during a community-focused event with the Salem Fire Department.

October is National Fire Prevention Month, and Papa Gino’s is teaming up with local fire departments to help educate the community on fire safety and prevention.
For the past 18 years, New England Fire Departments and Papa Gino’s have helped more than 2 million people by supplying educational materials and free pizza at fire safety open houses. The Salem Fire Department is holding a Fire Safety Open House at Salem Fire Dept., 152 Main Street on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 am - 2 pm.

Some of the exciting visuals include firefighters demonstrating the way to escape a smoke-filled room, cooking safety tips, fire prevention tips and Sparky, the fire safety mascot, interacting with the children. Each year, fires claim hundreds of lives throughout New England. Fire Safety Open Houses are geared towards educating the community and preparing them for potential fires. Each year, these open houses help to better prepare families in the event of a fire and hopefully save lives.
