State: Illegal Salem Docks Must Be Removed From Town Land
The decades-old docks could've potentially led to a lawsuit against the town, which is part of the reason why officials wanted them removed.

The owners of two illegal docks on Arlington Pond have been ordered by the state to remove the docks after the Salem Board of Selectmen has voted to keep the town-owned land on which the docks have stood for decades, according to the Eagle-Tribune.
The Eagle-Tribune has reported that the docks must be removed during the pond's next drawdown this week. The docks sit on less than an acre of town land next to the Wheeler Dam Property, and selectmen wanted the docks removed — despite the fact that at least one of them has allegedly been there since the 1970s — due to the potential for someone to sue the town if an injury occurs on the docks, according to the Eagle-Tribune.
