State Police Make 90 Arrests, 4K Stops Over July 4 Weekend

A total of 28 people were arrested for DUI.

State Police Director Colonel Robert Quinn  announces the enforcement efforts of State Troopers during the C.A.R.E Life Saver Weekend-July 4th Holiday Traffic Enforcement Effort.  The State Police want to thank all those who travelled  safely and courteously and regrets to announce that there were 6 fatal motor vehicle crashes during this period.

Beginning  Wednesday July 3, 2013 through Sunday July 7, 2013 State Troopers maintained a highly visible presence throughout the State to assure safe holiday travel making a total of 3,946 motor vehicle stops, which included 1,119 citations for speeding and 2,382 warnings. There were also 143 citations issued for hazardous violations  and 101 for Driving after Suspension.  Additionally, 90 other criminal arrests were made during this time period. 

Highly trained  State Troopers were also assigned throughout the state to detect and apprehend  impaired drivers.   As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a  total of 28 DUI arrests made, 4 of which were Aggravated or Subsequent offenses.

Several erratic and impaired operators were identified and aprehended as a result of phone calls by responsible citizens reporting their unsafe and erratic operation.   The men and women of the State Police appreciate the  public's assistance in removing  impaired drivers from our roadways.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce collisions during the upcoming summer months.
