Summer Challenges: Camp Fires and Beach Advisories

5 Things include: Another beach advisory, this time for Arlington Pond.

1) Salem weather: There's a chance of showers and a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., with showers likely to continue into Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service

2) Research and Development. Governor Hassan announced this week that 155 businesses have received tax credits under the expanded research and development tax credit that became law earlier this year. The R&D tax credit increased the amount of tax credit available from $1 million to $2 million.

3) President Nixon resigns. On this day in 1974, Richard M. Nixon resigned, according to History.com.

4) Be careful with those fires. NH State Fire Marshal Bill Degnan has issued a warning to people with camp fires and cooking fires. He has fire safety tips. And he notes, "Even with the recent rains, all it takes is one spark for things to go wrong."

5) Beach advisory for Arlington Pond. The state Department of Environmental Services issued a bacteria advisory for the Arlington Pond Improvement Association beach in Salem.
