Truck Driver Summonsed After Crashing into School Bus

The incident was reported Wednesday afternoon.

A truck driver who rear-ended a school bus Wednesday afternoon was issued a summons by Salem Police following the incident.

According to police, the man was summonsed for following too close and defective equipment (tires). He was not injured in the accident.

One student was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries. A total of 22 students were on the bus at the time of the crash, which took place at 103 South Policy Road.

The school bus, which was carrying Fisk Elementary School students was stopping to allow students to exit at the time of the crash.

The bus sustained minor damage while the truck sustained moderate to heavy damage.

A second bus was dispatched to the scene to take home the remaining children.
