Vice President Mike Pence Cancels Trip to Salem, Manchester

Vice President Mike Pence was scheduled to speak at Salem's Granite Recovery Center about the opioid crisis, but the trip was cancelled.

SALEM, NH — Vice President Mike Pence's scheduled visit to Manchester and Salem's Granite Recovery Center has been cancelled. Pence had been planning to visit the recovery center Tuesday to address the ongoing opioid crisis and the flow of illegal drugs in New Hampshire. He was scheduled to make remarks about the crisis at 1 p.m., but something came up that required him to stay in Washington, D.C., according to Alyssa Farah, press secretary for the vice president.

Farah said Pence looks forward to rescheduling his trip to New Hampshire, and there is no cause for alarm. Pence had been scheduled to arrive via Air Force Two at the Manchester airport Tuesday morning and spend some time in Queen City, before joining a roundtable discussion on opiate use and recovery in Salem. In his remarks, he was also scheduled to address the flow of illegal drugs into New Hampshire.

Granite Recovery Center's CEO Eric Spofford said the center's staff had been looking forward to host the vice president for the discussion.
