Will a Casino Hurt Charitable Gaming in NH?

Chief of NH Racing and Charitable Gaming notes some gaming operations now in the state are bigger than some of the smaller casinos in Las Vegas.

The director of the New Hampshire Racing and Charitable Gaming Commission told a subcommittee studying the bill to legalize casino gambling in the state that he hopes that expanded gambling–if ultimately approved–will lift up existing charitable gaming operations and charities.

Paul M. Kelley delivered testimony May 1 to a House subcommittee examining Senate Bill 152, which would allow 150 table games and up to 5,000 slot machines at one casino location in New Hampshire.

Kelley said 150 table games is "de minimis" for his agency. Watch the video for his explanation on why the proposed 150 is considered a minor figure in the regulatory realm.
