State Representative David Bates announced on July 9 that he had established a memorial fund to help the family of fellow Representative Rick Okerman in the wake of his toddler's death.
The "Okerman Family Memorial Fund" will operate through Citizens Bank. According to Bates, the goal is to help the family with the unexpected funeral costs.
Windham Police were informed at approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 9 that 3-year-old Gabriella Okerman had died following a backyard pool accident the previous day.

Money can be donated to the fund in two ways. Donations will be accepted at any branch of the bank if you walk in and explain that you would like to make a deposit to the fund.
