Annual Yard Sale This Month for Woman's Club

The group will host the event at Town Hall.

1. TODAY'S FORECAST: A partly cloudy day with a high of 59 is expected. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 38.

2. YARD SALE AT TOWN HALL COMING THIS MONTH: The Windham Woman's Club will host a yard sale upstairs in Town Hall on April 27. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and benefit the club's scholarship fund.

3. AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!: On Sunday, Adam Scott went from a good Australian golfer to a Masters champion, winning in a dramatic playoff against Argentinian Angel Cabrera. Scott became the first player from Down Under to capture the coveted green jacket, awarded to the tournament's champion.

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1947, Jackie Robinson, age 28, becomes the first African-American player in Major League Baseball when he steps onto Ebbets Field in Brooklyn to compete for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke the color barrier in a sport that had been segregated for more than 50 years. Exactly 50 years later, on April 15, 1997, Robinson's groundbreaking career was honored and his uniform number, 42, was retired from Major League Baseball by Commissioner Bud Selig in a ceremony attended by over 50,000 fans at New York City's Shea Stadium. Robinson's was the first-ever number retired by all teams in the league.

5. NO SELECTMEN TONIGHT: A reminder, as per the Board of Selectmen's new schedule of every other week, the board will not convene tonight. They will return next Monday at the Community Development Department.
