Burglar, Chased by Broom-Wielding Woman, Heads to Jail

Two months ago, Vietnam Dang, a 34-year-old Windham resident, was sentenced to six months in jail for his role in a Feb. 21 attempted burglary.

This week his partner, Robert Dalton, 35, of Lowell, was sentenced to 1-3 years in the New Hampshire State Prison for his role in the incident.

The two men reportedly broke into a house that was for sale but empty before getting into an altercation with a concerned neighbor.

According to the Union Leader, 64-year-old Katherine Reader approached the men and, upon realizing an attempted burglary was in progress, chased them away with a broom, though she was knocked over by Dalton in the process.

Dalton was arrested after getting stuck when backing his car into a snow bank during his attempted escape.
