Local Cancer Awareness Group Taking to the Links

In its 10th season of breast cancer fundraising and advocacy, Windham's own Team BellaDonna will host a charity golf tournament next month at Windham Country Club.

The team has been busy this year, fresh off its involvement in the annual Styles & Smiles Charity Fashion Show at Windham High School.

The golf tournament, titled "Pink on the Green," will be geared toward supporting the same cause – the Avon Breast Cancer Foundation. It is scheduled to take place on Sept. 28.

According to Donna Bramante InDelicato, who was instrumental in starting up the team, the campaign has raised over $41,000 in the last calendar year.

Members of the team range from 16 to 68, with four breast cancer survivors among the 15 or so members.

This is the first golf tournament fundraiser for the organization, and the team is seeking hole sponsors for the event. "Goody Bag" contents and raffle donations are also sought.

InDelicato said that that team is hoping to fill all 140 available golfer slots.

There will also be different options to accomodate various budgets and schedules, from a golf/lunch and a golf clinic/lunch.
