Medical Developments Cruising Along
Windham's Medicus location will use an eco-friendly building design.
For Windham visitors driving around town near Interstate 93, it's impossible to miss two major developments making steady progress toward completion.
Construction workers are heavily involved with the new urgent care center – ConvenientMD – being built right across from Klemm's Mobil.
Workers are also busy erecting the new Medicus Healthcare Solutions offices, located on Lamson Road. Medicus currently has a location in Salem.

The Dubay Group, a civil engineering and land planning business led by Karl Dubay, is involved with both projects.
According to project architect Rob Martel, the new Medicus building will have a cutting edge design that he has used on other buildings in the past few years.

The development is being constructed in Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), a type of formwork that stays in place as permanent insulation for the building.
"What you wind up with is an extremely strong wall that is highly insulating," Martel said.
What Martel called a "transitional building design" is also very green.
He added that it also makes the inside of the building much more comfortable for its employees.
The ICF material has been used by Martel on three recent developments in Pelham, Portsmouth and Manchester.
Martel said that there is not much of an extra cost to use the building design and that it also works out in the long run from the savings on energy costs.
The ConvenientMD project will also have a unique design.
Dubay described it in late May, saying that it will have sort of a "farmish" look.
The ConvenientMD location will also include a cafe, retail business and office space upstairs for other possible tenants.
Dubay said that progress has been made to fill those other spaces, but he could not give any specifics until they are finalized.
When the finalized plan for the development were approved in May, Dubay told the Windham Planning Board that there is "quite a bit of excitement" between the urgent care and the cafe tenants about being able to work together.
Both Medicus and ConvenientMD are prepared to open in late 2012 or early 2013.
