District Introduces Tentative Bus Routes for 2013-2014

Routes are generally the same but stops have been shifted. These are subject to change, and typically do in the first couple of months of the school year.

Student Transportation of America has provided new bus routes to the Windham School District for the 2013-2014 school year.

The school district posted the routes on their website earlier this week.

The district also contracts Safeway for special education transportation, and both contractors are in the first year of five-year contracts.

According to School District Business Administrator Adam Steel, the routes themselves are not changing dramatically but the locations of the stops have been adjusted.

The district has seen some difficulties with the high school routes since there was an extra bus in the proposed budget. Steel said there will still be some shaking out as the district moved forawrd.

Windham High School is typically more difficult to plan for since many of the students take their own cars to school, but that information is sometimes uncertain until after the school year begins.

School Board Vice Chair Stephanie Wimmer questioned the prudence of releasing bus routes so early, but Steel responded that last year the district was still making significant changes up until mid-October.
